According to the Bible, the purpose of the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ is that we all believe in Him, trust in Him, and follow Him so that we can be saved from sin and death. Jesus himself said “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10, NIV)

The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 10, If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9, NIV)

Once you’ve made a commitment to Jesus Christ making Him your Lord and Savior, it’s time to take the next step and make your decision known to others. Baptism by immersion is the way that Jesus and the Apostles teach us to express our faith and celebrate the change that has begun to take place in our lives. We baptize by immersion because that’s the way Jesus and the New Testament church did it, and the way we are commanded to do it.

Jesus told us in the Great Commission…

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19–20, NIV)

Baptism is an outward expression of faith that shows you have decided to trust Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins (Acts 2:38), and that you desire to live in the way God created you to live by following His teaching. (Matthew 11:28-30, 28:19-20). The intent is clear in the Scripture, anyone who has decide they want to follow Jesus should be baptized.

While the act of baptism is not the source of our salvation – baptism is an outward sign of all that God is doing in the hearts of those He is saving. The Bible teaches that anyone who “calls on the name of the Lord” (trusts Jesus as the way to life) will be saved. (Acts 2:21, Romans 10:13)

If God is leading you to be baptized, we would be happy to help you take that step. Baptisms can be done during or after one of our weekend services, or they can be planned for another time that allows you to celebrate your commitment to Jesus with family and friends. We welcome anyone who believes in Jesus to be baptized and we’re happy to help you take the next step on your journey!

If you would like to request a time to be baptized by immersion please fill out our Baptism Registration form and a staff member will contact you to make arrangements or contact us here for more info.
